HomePageThis is definitely the unofficial Shopify Wiki, but that doesn't mean you couldn't use our input and help. We have tried many different shopping cart solutions in the past and they all seem to lack something. None of them seems to be easy to customize and change and make your own. They all seem to take some great work in getting things all looking and functioning the way you need them to. Let's face it, between databases, SSL Certificates, merchant accounts, and template design, shopping carts are just a pain in the ass. Well let's just say Shopify is the inflatable donut you can sit on after all those bad experiences. Most of us understand that search engines really like content too, and when was the last time you found a shopping cart that makes it easy to add as much content as you want and create as many pages as you want without having to know php or some other language of that sort. Shopping carts have been in the past, for lack of better wording, weak. They've been hard to use, hard to manage, and hard to make them look the way you wanted them too. Another thing to really think about too is the cost of a shopping cart. Some shopping carts cost in the upwards of $50 a month or more, and you aren't even making any money from it yet either. The key for most businesses when getting started is survival. If you ration all your cash off to programmers and designers without knowing when you're going to get more, you may as well drop your online business out in the middle of the Sahara and let it starve. Of course when you start rolling in the dough you may consider other options, but I think for at least the starting, lightly financially rationed businesses Shopify is the way to go.
